Link baiting is a new word floating around the Internet recently. As a SEO technique, this method for boosting traffic to your site can be very successful. This tactic can also be beneficial in Search Engine Ranking, boosting short term popularity by using this method correctly.
So, what is link baiting? Link baiting is to write something as an enticement. This creates a desire for others to post backlinks to your site. By leaving your backlinks, they have expanded your reach on the Internet. As this cycle continues to expand, you receive unlimited traffic. In a nutshell, you are creating a buzz by providing a subject matter in such a way that is provocative, or providing a niche market so others will leave backlinks to your page on other Internet posts and sites. This provides everyone outside your jurisdiction with a road map to your post or site. Think of it as free advertising! Almost everyone who has a blog post or website desires more traffic, more people visiting your site. Whether the purpose of your site is to realize financial gain, offer advise, or gain popularity; link baiting can drive traffic to your site in a way never realized before. Because of it's very nature, link baiting is a tactic a lot of people use to create traffic to their Internet site in a very targeted, natural way. The back link to your site is left by others who were very taken by your post. These converts you converted wish to spread your word to other like-minded people because they were successfully baited by your message. Some ideas for link baiting would be around ideas that are unique and innovative. Published interviews with noteworthy people, special reports, how-to articles, events, contests, the latest news scoop in your niche, documenting something unique, resourcing something that is up and coming, etc. There are several ways to approach link baiting. The key to this tactic is the "hook". Everyone in advertising knows what a hook should be. Hooks have been the cornerstone of advertising campaigns since time began. To hook is to entice. Making the audience want what is being offered is to hook them. There are as many ways to hook as there are ways to market a product. It is a creative call to be sure. The approach to using your "hook" should be considered to, what target audience you are trying to reach. This is a judgment call only you can make. Because of it's very nature, link baiting is a creative endeavor sometimes left to others with better equipped skills and methods at their disposal, in order for this technique to work properly. Link baiting is quickly providing a niche marketplace for businesses offering their link baiting services to web and blogsite concerns that need their special skills. These link baiting type services usually are able to create the right balance for the client's campaign. Yet, there are no guarantees to success because of the very nature of this method. Some companies do provide additional support to the client's campaign by way of rewrites and different approaches to the subject when traffic is not realized in the beginning. The main risk in link baiting always falls on the creative approach to the "hook" and the targeted market the campaign is shooting for. These variables can usually be adjusted and realized with the correct resources. __________________ |
